No Joke! Even if you just passing through my blog, I want to know what you have to say to this one!
My question:
In your talent that you have developed, did your parents put you in it or did you just decide one day that you wanted to dance/play an instrument/play a sport/etc?
I'm just kind of curious...I'm not like trying to map out baby's life, I'm just honestly curious. So let me know your "talent" and how your doing with it now, and if you decided or if your parents put you in it:)
(that sounds bad...I don't mean "THEY FORCED YOU!!!"-put you in it, I mean...signed you up for a class-put you in it...yeah)
The End.

With music I just decided that I wanted to play the flute because my friend was going to learn it. I almost quit a few times, but my parents encouraged me to do it, so I kept it up. I'm glad I'm still playing :)
I do clogging. We went to my friends clogging recital and I rally liked it so my parents offered to let me do it. I've been doing it for 6 years now and I love it!
Ummm... depends on what my "talent" is.
If we're talking about my computer and teaching skills. No, my parents had nothing to do with it. I found it all on my own and not until I was in my 30s.
If we're talking about my parenting skills (which I feel pretty good about most of the time) I learned EVERYTHING from my mother... okay almost everything. I did take a few parenting classes that refined my skill, but I think my mom did a pretty awesome job.
If I have any other "talents", I'm not sure what they'd be or where I would have learned them...
When it came to me playing the flute, my mom played it and she told me I should play, but said if I didn't want to I didn't have to. Well, I liked the look of her flute, so I decided to try it.. So I guess that one she put me in. But with me playing the piano, that one was all me. I told my parents I wanted to play, so they went and bought a piano, and put me in lessons. So, for me it was a bit of both, but ultimately I had the option of whether or not to do them.
They asked. I believe they gave me 2 choices and made me pick one, for instance dance or piano. (Lessons ARE expensive over time of course). And then came the talent cycle for me. Loved it...hated it and wanted to quit because practicing took too much time so my mother made me...then I LOVED IT!! :) The end.
My singing talent just came naturally because I was surrounded by music everday! My dad was an opera singer, sang with the Tab Choir for 32 years, and we listened to classical music in our home always. I was taken to concerts, plays, operas, ballets, etc. from the time I waws very little, and Dad and Mom both talked to us about music, so I thought that's how everyone lived his/her life. When we went on vacation we sang together as a family in the car, and Dad taught us how to make harmony. I don't think I could have NOT sung, so every chance I got I DID sing!I think the best way to help a child to develop his/her talent is to surround that child with many opportunities, and just let it happen over time.
